Monday Monday...

I love to wake up in a place where I can do my sun salutations and get an answer from the sun! It says 'good morning Elena...this is going to be a good day!'

Last night I produced these little earrings which gave me much pleasure as well.

The store in Coconut Grove is open!

In a few weeks I'll be able to have my very own studio/workshop/exhibit in my cottage at home. I'm very excited to have a place to combine all these interests and get my house back. At the moment, I work where I can and every room in my house has turned into a workspace.

A happy customer...

Thanks Rosanna for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your earrings!

She bought these among others...

Here are some more pretty things.

New Jewelry

Translucent - each with its own light

I'm surrounded by beads, rocks, pearls and beautiful shiny things. I thoroughly enjoy creating pretty dangly-jangly things and imagine them on so many people! Come and see them in Coconut Grove and pick your own. I will ship them to you if you're far away. Email me!

Art Therapy

I'm so glad that you came to visit my blog. Its a bit of a mishmash of the things I like to do...write, paint and make jewelry among others. I've always "made things." People remind me of my "pillow phase" when I decided that Christmas was too commercial and that one should only gift something one makes oneself. You know that phase I'm sure. I made pillows with the name of the recipient embroidered on them. Some of them had the pillows displayed for years! My dining room turned into Santa's workshop and in spite of the chaos this represented in the living quarters of a family of six (plus dogs and cats) it made me enormously happy.

I'm always happiest making things. I've knitted, sewn, made mosaic creations and decorated and redecorated various homes that we've lived in through the years. I've co-produced four amazing individuals and have amused them through the years with my latest endeavor. I only make things that I like to live around, believe in, or wear on my own body. At work as a birth educator, I've written most of my material, articles and booklets. I've never bored a student...knowingly at least. My sense of humor extended to a very serious subject and I tried to creatively help them to help themselves and in the process, deliver their own creations in the form of healthy bouncy babies.

Esteban used to kid me and say "Mommy is in her nutty phase. She needs art therapy!" when he saw me immersed in my latest project. Now, when I "create" something or other I smile and think of how he'd like what I'm making. He always loved what I made and knew that it was purely for me. Maybe that's why I blush when my kids and friends call me "an artist" or tell me to sell this or that. It was never my intention to be one. Artist is a very big word and a big ambition. My own ambition is to dive into what I make and enjoy the process.

Jewelry Making 101

The novice jewelry maker at work

Taking a rest from painting, playing around with jewelry making. These are some pieces I've made before I go to my first class next week! Having so much fun. If you're interested, they're for sale. As I continue to produce, I will be posting new models. I will never make anything I wouldn't wear myself!
