La Geisha

















She stares in the mirror as her dresser ties her obi.

So many folds of muslin and silk cover her.

Her enormous black wig weighs on her head and the part of her beautifully powdered white neck in the back seems to be the only few inches of her that is exposed…that feels the light breeze coming from the open window.

She suffocates but keeps quiet. The heavy kimono weighs her down.

She enters the room and the men look with admiration. With lust. But what is it that they see? Can they unveil her layers one by one with their eyes? Until they get to the rawness of her skin. To the sadness of her soul?
